AV TROLLEY
1. Sound - Alesis multimix
Bluetooth & cable

All of the performing arts spaces including the theatres have this 'Alesis multimix' mixer installed in the trolley.

All of the knobs on the front should be set to 12 o'clock position (middle). The faders adjust the volume of the different audio inputs. The main master fader (furthest right) must be up or you won't hear anything at all.

Sound can be passed through it 3 ways:

-
Bluetooth - connect your device via bluetooth (be aware that they all appear as 'Alesis multimix' in available bluetooth devices, so you may want to rename them on your device dependant on which room you're in.)

-
3.5mm jack - this is your average minijack connection for sound (little round hole on your device for headphones)

-
hdmi/usb-c - this cable connection may require you to change the audio setting on your device. You may need to go to audio settings and tell it to use a device called VP-424C. This is also how audio from any video is sent. If you can't hear the audio for a video you may need to change audio settings as described above.

2. Video/projection
HDMI/USB-C

When you connect the visible HDMI or USB-C cable from the trolley into your computer it should automatically send the image to the projector onto the screen if:

-
The projector is turned on - the remote is provided in the drawer in the trolley.

-
your computer is sending video to the screen. In display settings you should see there is a second screen available. It will either mirror your screen or send a second screen. If it's set to second screen you won't see anything unless you move it over to the second screen. This usually involves dragging a window across so it appears on the projector. If it's set to mirrored in the display preferences you will see your screen duplicated on the projector.

-
If there seems to be a problem with the projector recieving video from the computer unplug the HDMI/USB-C and reboot the computer. This often solves the issue. You can also reboot the AV trolley if you unplug it from the power socket on the wall. This can also resolve issues when the image doesn't appear.

-
Sound is passed through the HDMI/USB-C as described in the sound section above.

ROOM GENERAL

-
Electronic blinds - up/down switch on the wall adjacent to the windows. Very simple one push control.

-
Temperature - control panel on the wall. Navigate to fan settings. If the noise from the fans is distracting they can be turned down.

-
Light switches located in the main cupboard in each space or on the mezzanine level above each space.

-
Projector screen remote is located in the AV trolley drawer. One push button (up/down/stop).

-
Furniture includes stacked chairs and ad hoc tables, these are moved between the PAS spaces dependant of requirements.

-
Storage cuboards are generally not locked so it is not advised to leave valuble items inside. Lockers keys can be loaned from the MPA help desk (lockers located in all dressing rooms except theatre)

*Please consider the students and/or academics that will use the space after you. Tidy up after yourself and leave it as you have found it. If you find it in a state that you think is unnaceptable please report it to us (in person/phone/email) immediately so we don't assume it has been caused by the wrong people.
